When it comes to metal facade panels, for example, aluminum plates, aluminum composite panels, galvanized steel sheet and stainless steel panels are commonly used. Each material has different processes, performances, and effects. So, how should we choose?

First, let's review materials characteristics.

Aluminum Composite Panel Glavanized Steel Sheet Aluminum Sheet Stainless Steel Sheet
Specification 1.22x2.44m Width:0.6-2.05m
Length: 1-6m
Roller sheet, width=0.9-2.0m Length:2.44m/3.05m/4m
Width:1.22m
Thickness Popular thickness is 4mm 1.5-2.0mm 2.5,3mm 1.5-2.0mm
Gap thickness 15mm seal gap(minum is 12mm)
Direct adhensive: 4mm seal gap or without seams
Seamless weld 15mm seal gap(minum is 12mm)
With seam(not good in water proof, need to add 1.5mm galvanized steel plate to do waterproof)
Same as aluminum sheet
Anti rust Good antirust effect Need regular maintenance Good antirust effect Good rust prevention performance: 201+paint<304<316;
201 stainless steel cannot be directly used outdoors, anti rust with 201+paint
Outdoor commonly used 304;
316 is used in environments with seawater, saltwater, or chloride content;
According to regulations, insulation gaskets are required to be added when stainless steel comes into contact with steel
Surface technology PVDF painting, PE painting, Marble look, Wood texture Automotive paint (polyurethane paint) spraying, fluorocarbon paint spraying PVDF/Powder coating/Anodic oxidation/Wood grain and stone grain heat transfer printing Commonly used: natural mirror surface, brushed surface;

Second, what are their construction details?

1. Aluminum Composite Panel (ACP):

The installation structure for aluminum composite panels is similar to that of aluminum single panels. The edges of the aluminum composite panels require grooves, which reduces the strength of the edges. Additionally, the edges cannot be welded, so L-shaped or U-shaped aluminum alloy reinforcing ribs need to be added at the four edges.

Aluminum composite panels can be directly glued to the baseboard or keel, with specific requirements for the flatness of the steel frame.

Aluminum composite panels can be cut on-site, which is faster than aluminum panels, making it ideal for temporary projects that require fast construction.

2. Aluminum Single Panels, Stainless Steel Panels (with seams):

Aluminum single panels are pre-processed and formed in the factory, ensuring high quality and good results.

Stainless steel panels are also pre-processed into panels in the factory, and are often finished with distinctive stainless steel textures, such as mirror, brushed, or electroplated finishes.

The common construction method for aluminum single panels is a 15mm gap between the panels.

3. Galvanized Steel Sheet, Stainless Steel Sheet (without seams):

Galvanized steel sheet and stainless steel sheet can be welded and polished on-site to achieve a seamless overall effect.

Raw finishes such as brushed, random pattern, and mirror stainless steel can be welded and polished on-site to create a seamless overall effect.

4. Reinforcing Ribs:

Reinforcing ribs, also known as strengthening ribs, are used to support aluminum single panels. They are installed using bolts, with nails embedded in the back of the aluminum single panels, followed by nut fastening.

For aluminum composite panels and stainless steel sheet, reinforcing ribs are bonded using structural adhesives, as aluminum composite panels cannot be welded, and stainless steel welding can cause deformation.
