How to set Rigid tie member & bracing in light-weight steel portal frame?

1. Lateral roof support is better to set in the first or second end bay. If there is support in the second bay, then there should have rigid tie bar in the relative position of first bay.

2. The distance of wall support (i.e. support between columns) is determined by building longitudinal distance, stress condition and installation condition.

Wall support distance will be set 30-45m if there have no overhead crane inside of steel building; otherwise, it will be set in the middle of temperature segment, or be set in trigonal point if it is long temperature segment, distance should be less than 60m if there have bridge crane inside of buildings.

3. It is better to add wall support in the line of middle columns if the steel building width is more than 60m.

4. Wall support should be made layered design if house height is bigger than column distance.

5. Rigid tie bar will be set along the house full length in steel frame transition(top column and roof ridge).

6.  Horizontal truss, combined by support & slope bar, whose straight web member will be considered as rigid tie bar.

7.  Longitudinal support truss should be set in the roof edge if there have bridge crane with cab and the lifting height is more than 15 tons.  Also lateral stiffness of crane beam should be added and taken into considerations.
