8 Points Need To Be Considered During Steel Structure Workshop Construction

Steel Structure Workshop is popular due to its low cost, large space and short construction period, it has now become the best choice for factory workshop building construction.

                                          What should be noted during the construction of steel structure workshops?

Load-bearing

    Bearing construction loads, rainwater, dust, snow pressure and maintenance loads. The load-bearing performance of the roof panel is related to the cross-sectional characteristics of the panel model, the strength and thickness, the force transmission method, and purlins spacing.

Daylighting

    Generally, steel structure workshop construction area is large. During the day, skylights can be used to improve indoor lighting and save energy. Skylight panels should be arranged at specific locations on the steel roof, considering the service life and coorination with roof steel panels, waterproof treatment should be done at the connection between the skylight and the metal roof panels.

Moisture-proof

    Especially during the rainy season, it should prevent the condensation of water vapor in the roof panel, and drain the water vapor in the steel roof layer. For example, we can fill with thermal insulation materials, put waterproof membrane on the bottom of metal roof, and have ventilated nodes on roof panel.

Lightning Protection

    When designing a steel structure workshop, lightning should be conducted to the ground to prevent lightning from piercing the steel roof and entering the room.

Fireproof

    Fire is a major hidden danger in steel structure workshop building. When a fire occurs in a steel structure workshop, the metal roof material will not burn, and the flames will not penetrate the roof panel.

Impermeability

    In addition to leak-proofing, steel structure workshops must also prevent rainwater from seeping into the metal roof panel from the outside. Rainwater mainly enters through overlapping seams or nodes. 

    To achieve impermeability, seal washers should be used at the screw mouth and then concealed fixing should be adopted. Sealant or welding should be used at the overlapping parts of the panel, and it is best to use full-length panels to eliminate overlaps, and strict waterproof treatment should be done at various node parts.

Sound Insulation

    Most steel structure workshops serve as production workshops, noise is inevitable during the production and construction process. These workshops are designed to prevent sound transmission from the outside to the inside or vice versa. The sound insulation effect is influenced by the density and thickness of the sound insulation material. It is important to note that the sound insulation material has varying degrees of effectiveness against sounds of different frequencies.

Thermal Insulation

    The thermal insulation is achieved by filling the space under the metal roof panel with thermal insulation materials, such as glass wool or rock wool. The thermal insulation effectiveness is measured by the U value, with the unit being W/M2K. 

    The thermal insulation performance depends on several factors: the raw material, density, and thickness of the thermal insulation materials, the moisture content of the thermal insulation, the connection method between the metal roof panel and the steel structure, which must prevent the "cold bridge" phenomenon, and the metal roof layer's ability to resist repeated thermal radiation.
